Tigo Tanzania boss says goodbye

IN SUMMARY

Dar es Salaam. A month after Vodacom CEO Hishem Hendi announced his departure from the company after securing a new position in Spain, Tigo CEO Simon Karikari has announced his departure.

Reports of Karikari's departure that have been circulating since last Friday were confirmed yesterday by the Chairman of Tigo's Board of Directors, Ambassador Ami Mpungwe when he spoke to this newspaper.

"His contract expires this month, he informed me earlier that he would not continue with his contract. He will leave at the end of September, ”said Ambassador Mpungwe.

Unlike Hendi who passed away on August 4, his employer said he was heading, Ambassador Mpungwe was not sure where he was going and when he was asked Karikari himself was not in a good position to speak because when he called he cut off and sent a text message: "Will call back" but until we go to the mills he didn't do it.

Karikari leaves Tigo after working with the company for about seven years, including five in the country.

The director started working in the country as Tigo's chief financial officer, from April 2016 to May 2017.

Starting in June of that year he was appointed CEO of the second company to serve many telecommunications clients in the country.
