My dear friend,
I have been very insistent on this; A true friend is work.
Work is a friend who can take you wherever you are now and get you wherever you want to go. Work is a friend who if you love him loves you without any resentment. Work is a friend who will not envy you when you are very successful.
So love work, that's the first and most basic step to achieving great success.
And let this be clear, when I say work I do not mean employment, but whatever you do that gives value to others.
Now we have seen true friends are work, but why are there still jobs that even if we force ourselves to love them we do not like?
Why are there jobs that despite being well paid we don't get motivated to do well?
The answer is because not all tasks are the same. Not every job can be enjoyed by you and you can do it to the highest standards and succeed.
There are five key elements to any job that you must be able to enjoy, to love, to do, and to be successful.
Here we have the opportunity to learn those qualities and how to build them up in whatever we do, so that our friendship and career will be lasting and of great value.
The first feature; IMPORTANT.
The importance of what you do greatly affects the way you do it.
If the work you are doing is important, in the sense that it gives value to others and makes a significant contribution, you will be strongly motivated to do it.
When you see others benefiting directly from what you did, you are satisfied and motivated to do more so that more people can benefit.
Action to take; For whatever you do, see how it benefits others. See how the lives of others become better for what you do and you will be motivated to do more.
If you don’t see that in what you’re doing, it’s time to find something else to do.
The second feature; OWNERSHIP.
Seeing yourself owning what you do gives you the motivation to do it well and with quality as well.
Here you see completely leaving your mark on what you are doing, people are fully aware of this work he has done somewhat.
The more you focus on yourself and care about what you do, the more you will be motivated to do it tirelessly.
Meaning it no longer works, but it becomes a way for you to identify yourself.
Action to take; Own whatever you do knowingly is the mark you are leaving. Even if it is a hired job, do not act as an employee, but act as if you own it.
Third attribute; FREEDOM.
Freedom of choice in what you do has a huge impact on how you do it.
If you decide for yourself what you are going to do and how you are going to do it you are more motivated to do it. Cause you know why you're doing it.
But if you are just set to do or are forced to do, you will not find much motivation to do or do with quality.
Action to take; Build yourself freedom in what you do. Make sure you are the one who decides what you do and when and push yourself to do it. If you are just planning what to do, it is time to look for something else.
Fourth attribute; DIFFERENCES.
Practices are very tiring at work. If you do the same thing over and over again you come to a place and find yourself doing it without even thinking.
That takes away the creativity and the desire to keep doing it.
You don’t get a lot of motivation to make sense you know there’s nothing different.
Action to take; Keep learning and trying new things in what you are doing. That will allow you to make a difference and make a big difference.
The fifth attribute; RETURN.
If you just do something and no one gives you feedback on how to improve it, you find yourself doing it in practice and that will affect your performance.
Sometimes you try to do it but the results are different from what you expected, you repeat and things get the same.
You should get feedback on how to further improve what you are doing, from those who receive it or those who are more experienced than you.
Action to take; Create a better way to get feedback and feedback to further improve what you do from those who benefit from it and those who specialize in you.
If you can build these five qualities in any work you do, it will no longer be a job for you, but it will be a part of your life and you will do it with the highest quality.
Don't just take work for granted, treat it as a true friend and make sure those five qualities are in the work you do, give it priority and strive to produce greater value for others.
