Through education, health programs, financial literacy, and mentorship, GFI works to eliminate gender-based violence, inequality, and economic barriers.


About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer Intern to join our growing team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial management, budgeting, reporting, and donor compliance — while also contributing to meaningful programs that change lives.


Key Responsibilities

📊 Financial Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and donor submissions.
  • Support accurate maintenance of financial records and documentation.

📉 Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Help in creating, reviewing, and tracking project budgets.
  • Assist with financial projections and variance analysis.

💰 Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process invoices and maintain financial transaction records.
  • Support in reconciling discrepancies and following up on payments.

📋 Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure documentation meets internal and external audit requirements.
  • Support donor compliance and policy adherence.

🔄 General Financial Admin

  • Assist with petty cash management, grant support, and fundraising finance coordination.
  • Provide administrative and cross-functional support where needed.

🤝 Cross-Departmental Flexibility

  • Be open to working with program and monitoring teams.
  • Contribute to broader organizational initiatives and learn across departments.


Candidate Profile

Education

  • Final year student or recent graduate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong interest in finance and non-profit development work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with QuickBooks/Xero is an added advantage.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and attention to detail.
  • Bilingual in English and Swahili.
  • Integrity, confidentiality, and adaptability are a must.
