🌍 Project Overview

In partnership with REDESO, CARE Tanzania is implementing the “Enhancing Livelihood Resilience along the Sisal Value Chain” project in Kishapu District, Shinyanga. The project aims to support small-scale farmers—especially women—through Village and Youth Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs/YSLAs), entrepreneurial training, climate-smart agriculture, and digital tools like CHOMOKA. The goal is to increase beneficiaries from 1,200 to 2,700 by December 2026 and strengthen women-led agribusinesses.


🔧 Role Summary

As Project Coordinator – Gender & VSLA, you’ll lead coordination, technical guidance, and operational oversight for the project. You’ll work directly with VSLAs, community leaders, local partners, and government actors to promote financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and gender-responsive development.


🧩 Key Responsibilities

1. VSLA Coordination & Community Engagement

  • Mobilize and organize savings groups.
  • Provide entrepreneurship training and scale VSLA operations.
  • Facilitate linkages with agribusiness models (e.g., poultry, horticulture).

2. Capacity Building

  • Train local partners on VSLA methodology, gender, and financial literacy.
  • Coach trainers on capital access and market linkages.
  • Promote the use of digital platforms (CHOMOKA).

3. Gender Inclusion

  • Ensure interventions empower women and girls.
  • Promote female leadership in community development.
  • Engage men and boys in gender equity efforts.

4. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Align activities with government, NGOs, agro-dealers, and service providers.
  • Oversee partner implementation and ensure alignment with project targets.

5. Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning

  • Collect data using digital tools (e.g., Kobo, Power BI).
  • Document lessons learned and submit quality reports to donors and CARE HQ.

6. Safety & Security

  • Enforce CARE’s safety and safeguarding protocols for staff and communities.

🎓 Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Project Management, Rural Development, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working with women/girls in agriculture and VSLA development.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in gender-focused training or community sensitization.
  • Strong project management, facilitation, and reporting skills.

Desired:

  • Certification in VSLA, entrepreneurship, or cooperative development.
  • Knowledge of rural gender dynamics, climate resilience, and women’s land rights.
