Senegalese President Macky Sall met with President Vladimir Putin to try to mediate. Macky Sall is trying to get a truce in the Ukrainian crisis.

President Macky Sall urgently called his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. In an interview at the summit, Macky Sall pleaded with President Vladimir Putin for a de-escalation in the war in Ukraine. Sporting his attributes as the annual chairman of the African Union, Macky Sall wants to influence President Putin to end his offensive.

"I welcome my meeting this morning with President Putin in my capacity as Chairperson of the African Union to call for a lasting ceasefire in Ukraine. I salute his listening and his readiness to maintain dialogue for a negotiated outcome of the conflict." said President Macky Sall after his meeting with President Vladimir Putin. Macky Sall makes it clear that President Putin is not a man who is robbed, a bellicose as Western propaganda says.

Macky Sall intervenes in this crisis under his rule as President of the African Union. But much more, the Senegalese president also wants to assure Putin of his neutrality in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. This is of paramount importance with the foggy activism of the Ukrainian Ambassador in Dakar. This ambassador, like his counterpart in Nigeria, took the liberty of launching a recruitment of mercenaries and volunteers in Senegal to fight in Ukraine.
