📝 Job Overview
Exim Bank Tanzania is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Collections Officer to support and manage the bank’s retail loan collections. This role focuses on maintaining a healthy loan book by closely monitoring delinquent accounts and executing strategic recovery initiatives.
🔍 Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage delinquent retail loan portfolios including Personal Loans, SME Loans, and Insurance Premium Financing (IPF)
- Execute effective debt collection processes such as skip tracing, demand letters, client visits, and repayment negotiations
- Develop and implement recovery strategies to reduce non-performing loans (NPLs)
- Analyze repayment trends and produce monthly collection performance reports
- Collaborate with legal firms, court brokers, debt collection agents, and other external recovery partners
- Advise Relationship Managers on clients flagged for arrears and collections
- Identify and follow up on accounts eligible for restructuring or write-off
- Ensure compliance with internal and external audits, and document all collection efforts within the bank’s system
- Track collections KPIs and support achievement of monthly recovery targets
✅ Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in credit collections or loan recovery within a financial institution
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of debt recovery processes and banking regulations
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work under pressure
- Proficient in MS Office and collection management systems
