🌍 About the Role
UNDP Tanzania, in partnership with the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP), is advancing the National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) to address plastic pollution and accelerate a circular plastics economy. As the Communication and Engagement Specialist, you will play a key role in building awareness, shaping national conversations, and engaging stakeholders across government, private sector, and civil society.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Organize and manage NPAP meetings, workshops, and public events
- Develop and implement a strategic communications plan
- Create communication materials (newsletters, factsheets, social media, press releases, etc.)
- Maintain NPAP’s community database and digital presence (including GPAP’s TopLink platform)
- Act as the media liaison for the NPAP Secretariat
- Support member engagement and onboarding
- Track communication metrics and generate performance insights
- Ensure inclusive, gender-sensitive messaging in all materials
- Provide guidance to consultants and vendors on branding and content standards
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Engagement, Digital Media, or a related field
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in communications, public relations, media, or stakeholder engagement
- Experience in organizing multi-stakeholder events or workshops
- Proven ability to run communications campaigns and manage social media platforms
- Familiarity with development, sustainability, or environmental sectors
- Experience working in multicultural and inclusive environments
Languages:
- Fluent in English (Required)
- Fluent in Swahili (Desirable)
Skills:
- Strong storytelling and content creation abilities
- Knowledge of design and media tools (graphic design, video editing, CMS)
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative mindset
