🩺 Position Summary
The Specialist Gynaecologist (Laparoscopic Surgery) will provide comprehensive reproductive health care for women, with a focus on advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures. This role involves diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and mentorship—working as part of a multidisciplinary team to uphold AKU's high standards in patient care.
✅ Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage a range of gynaecological and reproductive health conditions
- Perform diagnostic procedures and surgeries including:
- Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH)
- Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy (LSH)
- Laparoscopic Myomectomy
- Fibroid removal, Ovarian cystectomy, and Hysteroscopic Myomectomy
- Advise patients on contraceptive options, fertility, and sexual health
- Maintain accurate medical records in line with AKU and JCIA standards
- Mentor junior medical professionals and participate in clinical teaching
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure patient-centered, holistic care
- Uphold the hospital’s safety and confidentiality policies
🎓 Qualifications and Experience
- Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (M.Med or equivalent)
- Minimum 6 years of clinical experience post-specialization
- Advanced training and hands-on experience in laparoscopic gynaecological surgery
- Must be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT)
