Job Purpose
The primary role of the Financial Control Officer is to provide detailed financial analysis on key business areas to offer trend and highlights to all stakeholders. The officer will be involved in the development of the bank’s financial performance to comply with various regulatory requirements, including the Cost to Income Ratio (CIR). The position also ensures the bank’s procurement process adheres to existing policy at all times, reviews key operational areas to reduce costs and improve financial performance, and takes a lead in supporting the Chief Accountant in organizing and coordinating the tendering process and the bank’s budgetary process.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reporting: Timely preparation of monthly and quarterly reports, including Branch Performance, Departmental, OPEX, Industrial Analysis, Shareholder, and NPL reports. Support Board presentation development.
- Cost and Revenue Management: Conduct reviews of operational costs and revenue, track validity of costs, analyze trends, and identify revenue leakages.
- Procurement: Ensure compliance with procurement policies, coordinate tendering, pre-authorize suppliers, and support evaluation committees.
- Budgeting: Coordinate the budget process by compiling departmental inputs, creating the master budget file, and working closely with the Chief Accountant.
- Collaboration: Work with Risk and Compliance on IFRS 9 ECL Model; guide departments to adhere to budget plans.
- Expenditure Review: Review administration department expenditures, ensure alignment with approved budgets, and confirm necessity.
- Teamwork: Maintain strong, respectful relationships within the finance and broader team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- CPA/ACCA certification or in progress is an added advantage.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, reasoning, and learning abilities.
