About EACOP
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a 1,443km pipeline transporting Uganda’s crude oil from Hoima to the Tanga port in Tanzania. About 80% lies in Tanzania. EACOP is committed to environmental and community safety, especially during construction.
Job Description
The Deputy Operations Safety Lead supports the Field Operations OSL in all safety, health, and environmental matters. This includes contract oversight, site H3SE coordination, reporting, and ensuring compliance with H3SE policies and KPIs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support and stand in for the OSL or site H3SE supervisor when needed.
- Coordinate H3SE activities across Tanzanian sites.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and implementation of safety systems.
- Monitor site compliance and prepare relevant H3SE reports.
- Assist with investigations, safety training, and waste management planning.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Ensure full compliance with Company H3SE rules.
- Promote H3SE culture and safe practices at all sites.
- Participate in IHRA and environmental audits.
- Communicate risks and ensure corrective actions are followed up.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Geological Sciences, Occupational Health, or related field.
- Certifications in NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH, risk assessment, or ISO standards preferred.
- 12+ years experience in HSE, preferably in oil & gas or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge in HSE systems, ISO 45001/14001, and Industrial Hygiene.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Fluency in English; team player; proactive and analytical.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HSE reporting systems.
