The Role is expected to align with the Barrick DNA and drive change within the team and business. This role ensures that activities in the HR department are effectively planned and executed safely and cost-effectively, in accordance with Company Mining Safety Standards, Policies, and Procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe work practices and total adherence to safety and environmental policies
  • Coordinate GM’s quarterly meetings and workforce communications
  • Conduct HR departmental meetings and provide CMA/Labor Court updates
  • Manage Industrial Relations and expatriate work permits
  • Track recruitment updates and monitor structure implementation
  • Implement succession planning tools and conduct safety interactions
  • Administer quality payroll processes and oversee allowances and changes
  • Manage the Element system, training reports, and time & attendance
  • Ensure compliance in non-citizen employment and contractors’ labor issues

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or equivalent (Master’s is an advantage)
  • 10+ years’ experience in mining, extraction, manufacturing, or construction
  • 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities in a culturally diverse environment
  • Strong risk management and problem-solving knowledge
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Fluent in English and Swahili
  • High concern for health, safety, and environment
